Our COVID-19 Procedures

We are so excited to welcome our returning students and many new families to Mountain View Dance Academy for our fifth season in Cochrane! We have worked hard to establish our Covid-19 Policies, and are in compliance with the strict health and safety guidelines set forth by DANCE SAFE ALBERTA and Alberta Health Services.

We have mastered the balance of still having FUN while ensuring the safety of our participants and staff. At Mountain View Dance Academy, we take great pride in the cleanliness of our studio year-round. We have increased our cleaning and sanitizing efforts in addition to our daily consistent cleaning procedures.

Here are the policies we have put in place to return to dance in a safe manner and help reduce the spread of Covid-19.

DAILY SCREENING – Anyone entering the building for longer than 15 minutes are required to complete a health assessment questionnairre prior to arriving each day. The Covid Questionnaire is located on our website under COVID-19. We also have a QR code on our front door which pulls up the assessment when scanned with your smart phone.

HAND SANITIZER – Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance, inside each dance room, and throughout the building. Everyone must sanitize upon entrance and exit.

MASKS – In accordance with the face covering bylaw in Cochrane, anyone entering the facility over the age of 2 is required to wear a face covering. Any visitors or parents accompanying their children for Parent & Toddler classes must be wearing a mask at all times. Dancers can choose to remove their mask while they are dancing, as it is not required while exercising.

LOBBY ACCESS – At this time our lobby remains closed to parents and siblings in order to reduce the unnecessary risk of transmission. An exception will be made for parents of dancers under the age of 6 – one parent will be permitted to help them get into class and collect them afterwards.

STAGGERED CLASS TIMES – Our schedule has been adjusted to stagger the class start and end times in our two dance studios. This will allow for ease of movement through our lobby and hallways, as well as use of the washrooms before and after class. We ask that dancers arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before their class begins.

CLEANING PROTOCOLS – All high touch surfaces in the studios and common areas will be sanitized between every class. A deep clean and sanitization of all studios is completed several times per week.

CLASS SIZES – We have limited our class sizes to a maximum of 6 students in our small studio, and 9 students for our large studio.

PERSONAL DANCE SPACES – Within each of our studios, physically distancing dance squares have been taped on the floors. Each dancer is assigned a personal square where the majority of their dancing will be done. Any travelling dancing will be done while maintaining physical distance between dancers.

NO CONTACT – Dancers and instructors will not be in physical contact with each other.

EQUIPMENT – Any equipment used will be thoroughly sanitized after each class, including the ballet barres. We will not be sharing equipment or props between dancers during class.

CONTACTLESS PAYMENT – Credit cards on file allow for contactless payment for your monthly tuition and studio merchandise.

We are happy to give you a tour of our studio and walk you through our procedures prior to your first class. As always, if you have any questions please give us a call!
